anything.to.design docs
What it is
anything.to.design converts image, PDF, Office, Photoshop, Illustrator, EPS, PostScript, Adobe XD, Fireworks, HTML and IDML files into editable Figma layers — through a web tool in your browser or the ‹div›RIOTS API. It is the front door to the ‹div›RIOTS import suite: one drop zone that routes each file to the right converter.
| Option | Output |
|---|---|
| Web tool | Figma layers via clipboard |
| API | Figma layers, or JSON, HTML, PDF and PNG, depending on the input |
Neither the web tool nor the API needs Figma open. Full output details, including all API formats, in Output, below.
What it does
Drop in a file, or paste one from your clipboard. anything.to.design routes it to the right converter and rebuilds the content as native Figma layers you copy and paste onto the canvas. Documents become Figma frames; images are rebuilt into layers.
The same engine powers the dedicated ‹div›RIOTS Figma plugin for each format and the ‹div›RIOTS API, so the result is consistent wherever you start.
Where it runs
The web tool runs in your browser, at divriots.com/anything.to.design — no plugin, no Figma required. It accepts drag-and-drop, paste from the clipboard, or click-to-browse uploads. Access is through a ‹div›RIOTS ONE account; get started with the Free plan, no credit card required.
The ‹div›RIOTS API runs wherever you call it from — any backend or app that can make an HTTPS request. anything.to.design is built on it; the API takes the same file types plus Figma inputs, and returns more output formats. Credit-metered per call — see Pricing. Full reference: ‹div›RIOTS API documentation.
Prefer to work inside Figma? Each file type also has a dedicated Figma plugin — see See also, below.

In the API, Office files use the
msoffice (Word and PowerPoint), iwork
(Pages and Keynote) and openoffice (OpenDocument) inputs.
Output
Web tool
The web tool returns the converted file as Figma layers. Drop your file, wait for the conversion, then copy the result and paste it straight onto the Figma canvas. Documents come in as frames; images are rebuilt into layers.
API
Seven output formats are available. Which inputs support which outputs is in the matrix under Pricing, below.
| Output format | What it is |
|---|---|
figma-clipboard | Data to load into the clipboard and paste onto the Figma canvas |
figma-rest | JSON, structurally compatible with the Figma REST API |
pptx | An editable PowerPoint deck, one slide per frame: real text boxes, native shapes, gradients and shadows |
html-tailwindcss | Generated HTML using Tailwind CSS, delivered as a ZIP |
html-inlinestyles | Generated HTML using inline styles, delivered as a ZIP |
pdf | A print-ready PDF, one page per frame, with selectable text and embedded fonts |
image |
The document flattened to a single PNG at 1:1, optionally
bounded by output.image_options |

Editability
Every conversion returns native Figma layers you can keep working on — never a flattened image. How far editability goes depends on the file type: this section covers the behavior all file types share, and each product’s own documentation has the per-format detail.
| Element | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Structure | Pages, groups and frames come across with their hierarchy and layer names intact. |
| Text | Imports as editable Figma text, matched against your available fonts — not outlines baked into a bitmap. |
| Vectors | Shapes and paths come in as vector objects, with fills, strokes and effects mapped to their Figma equivalents. |
What comes through, by file type:
| File type | What comes through | Full details |
|---|---|---|
| Image | Rebuilt into layers: editable text, auto layout frames, bitmap assets and native fills. | image.to.design docs |
| Editable text, vectors and image fills, page by page. | pdf.to.design docs | |
| Office document | Each page or slide rebuilt as its own frame, with editable text, shapes, tables and images. | office.to.design docs |
| Photoshop | Layer groups, text, shapes, images, blend modes and effects. | psd.to.design docs |
| Illustrator | Artboards as layers: vector shapes and paths, text, groups, gradients and images. | illustrator.to.design docs |
| EPS and PostScript | Editable vector layers. | eps.to.design |
| Adobe XD | Artboards with editable text, vectors, groups and image fills. | xd.to.design docs |
| Fireworks | Pages, layers, text, vectors, bitmaps and symbols from the Fireworks PNG. | fireworks.to.design docs |
| HTML | The rendered page rebuilt as auto layout frames, with editable text, vectors and image fills. | html.to.design |
| IDML |
Pages, master pages, layers, text, styles and images from
the InDesign document (export an .indd as IDML first).

Which features carry over, which don’t, how missing fonts are handled and any file-size limits are listed in each product’s documentation.
File size limits
The web tool and the API accept any supported file up to 10 GB, on every plan. The dedicated Figma plugins apply their own caps per plan:
| File type | Free | Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Image | 10 GB† | 10 GB† |
| 10 GB† | 10 GB† | |
| Office document | 200 MB | 2 GB |
| Photoshop | 500 MB | 10 GB |
| Illustrator | 10 GB† | 10 GB† |
| EPS | 10 GB† | 10 GB† |
| PostScript | 10 GB† | 10 GB† |
| Adobe XD | 500 MB | 10 GB |
| Fireworks | 500 MB | 10 GB |
| HTML | 10 GB† | 10 GB† |
| IDML | 10 GB† | 10 GB† |
† No separate per-plan cap for this file type; the 10 GB maximum applies. The other figures come from each product’s own documentation — follow the file type for the full detail.
Privacy & processing
The web tool and the API send your file to the ‹div›RIOTS API, where it is handled as per our privacy policy:
- Your files (“Input Data”) are processed solely to generate the requested output.
- Data minimization: processed in memory or ephemeral storage, and deleted shortly after the conversion or after a short window for debugging.
- Not used to train public AI models, and never sold.
- Processing servers are located in the United States.
- Businesses that need a Data Processing Agreement (DPA), such as API customers, can review the standard DPA.
Pricing
Every conversion is metered in credits. The web tool and the API draw on the same ‹div›RIOTS ONE account. The Free plan includes 10 credits per month, no credit card required.
| File type | Credits per conversion |
|---|---|
| Image | 100 in the web tool · 2–500 via the API, by effort |
| 2 | |
| Office document | 2 |
| Photoshop | 2 |
| Illustrator | 2 |
| EPS | 2 |
| PostScript | 2 |
| Adobe XD | 2 |
| Fireworks | 2 |
| HTML | 2 |
| IDML | 2 |
Fixed prices are the same whatever the file size or page count.
Images run an AI pipeline: the credits above are reserved up front
and settled to the actual cost when the job finishes. The web tool
uses the default Balanced effort, so an image needs at least
100 credits in your balance — more than the Free plan's
10 a month. Through the API, input.effort sets the reserve
(2–500 credits).
API credits per call
| Input | Output | Credits |
|---|---|---|
ai eps ps pdf xd fw idml html | figma-clipboard figma-rest | 2 |
psd | figma-clipboard figma-rest image | 2 |
msoffice iwork openoffice | figma-clipboard figma-rest pdf | 2 |
image | html-inlinestyles html-tailwindcss | Variable |
This matrix covers the inputs anything.to.design accepts; the API also takes Figma inputs for PDF, PowerPoint and HTML export — see the API reference. Billing is reserve-then-settle: an estimate is held up front and reconciled to the real cost when the job finishes. A run that produces no output is refunded. Source: API reference.
One subscription for the ‹div›RIOTS import suite — all plugins and web tools included — with a shared credit balance you can top up as needed.

FAQ
What is anything.to.design?
A ‹div›RIOTS web tool, backed by the ‹div›RIOTS API, that turns image, PDF, Office, Photoshop, Illustrator, EPS, PostScript, Adobe XD, Fireworks, HTML and IDML files into editable Figma layers. Drop a file, then paste the result into Figma.
What file types does anything.to.design support?
Eleven: images (21 extensions, from .png and .jpg to .heic, .avif and camera RAW), Office documents (17 extensions), .pdf, .psd, .ai, .eps, .ps, .xd, Fireworks (.fw.png), HTML (.html, .htm) and IDML (.idml). See Supported input formats, above.
Do I need Figma, or a plugin, to convert a file?
No. You upload from your browser — no plugin, no Figma open — and the conversion runs on ‹div›RIOTS servers; you need Figma only to paste the result. The API doesn’t need Figma at all.
Is the result editable, or a flattened image?
Editable. Every conversion returns native Figma layers: text stays text, vectors stay vector, and the hierarchy and layer names carry over. How far this goes depends on the file type — see Editability, above.
What happens to my fonts?
Text imports as editable Figma text, matched against your available fonts, not baked into a bitmap. Fonts that Figma doesn’t have may need to be mapped to an alternative.
Can I import camera RAW, HEIC, AVIF or JPEG XL images?
Yes. The image types include .arw, .cr2 and .dng camera RAW, .heic and .heif, .avif, .jxl and JPEG 2000, along with .svg, .svgz, .tif and the standard formats.
How is it different from psd.to.design, pdf.to.design and the other plugins?
Same conversion engine, different front door. The plugins each handle one format inside Figma; anything.to.design is one drop zone in your browser that routes every supported file type to the right converter.
Can I get HTML or PDF instead of Figma layers?
The web tool returns Figma layers. The API also produces HTML (html-tailwindcss or html-inlinestyles, delivered as a ZIP) from image inputs, and a print-ready pdf from Office inputs. See Pricing for the full matrix.
Is there an API for anything.to.design?
Yes — the ‹div›RIOTS API. It takes every file type anything.to.design accepts, plus Figma inputs, and returns more output formats (HTML, PDF, PowerPoint, PNG, JSON). Each call is metered in credits.
Can I import Word, PowerPoint or Keynote files?
Yes — in the web tool, and through the API (msoffice, iwork and openoffice inputs). For a Figma plugin, see office.to.design.
How large a file can I convert?
Up to 10 GB, on every plan, in the web tool and the API. The dedicated Figma plugins apply their own per-plan caps — Photoshop, for example, takes 500 MB on Free. See File size limits, above.
Are my files kept private?
Your files are processed only to generate the output, deleted shortly after the conversion or after a short window for debugging. They aren’t used to train public AI models. See Privacy & processing, above.
Does it work with Figma’s Dev Mode?
Yes — once converted, standard Figma functionality applies, including Dev Mode inspection, prototyping, and component libraries.
Is anything.to.design free?
The Free plan includes 10 credits per month, no credit card required — enough for five document conversions. An image conversion in the web tool reserves 100 credits, so it needs more than the Free allowance. For more, ‹div›RIOTS ONE is a single subscription with a shared pool of credits you can top up any time. See Pricing, above.
