Raising $3M Seed Round to empower Front-end teams

We’re proud to announce our first financial round of $3M, led by XAnge.

Participating: Laurent Useldinger (Ullink) via his holding UL Invest, alongside renowned business angels like Thibaud Elzière (Fotolia, eFounders), Eduardo Ronzano (KelDoc), Nicolas Steegmann (Stupeflix), Frédéric Montagnon and Julien Romanetto (Teads). Bpifrance also participated with non-dilutive financing.

Our Mission

Frontend development has been undervalued for too long. Frontend teams are still relying on backend development tools and command-lines, sacrificing creativity and productivity. It’s hard for most designers to collaborate.

We are now giving superpowers to frontend teams, delivering tools for developers, and keeping designers in the loop. Because we believe front-end is a team effort.

Growing the team

It’s our top priority. We are growing the team with top frontend talents all over Europe and expanding to the US soon.

Releasing Backlight to the public

Design Systems on the code-side provide more efficiency and better quality while providing a consistent user experience effortlessly. Unfortunately, they are costly to put in place - only large teams can afford them.

With Backlight.dev, engineering teams of any size can take advantage of a Design System and benefit immediately from it. Designers are also in the loop with high collaborative features specially tailored for them.

We have been privately working on it in the shadows of WebComponents.dev and Components.studio for more than a year now.

It’s time to have it out there into the hands of a lot more people.

Thanks

Thanks to everyone on WebComponents.dev and Components.studio communities as well as the private beta customers on Backlight. Your support and trust means a lot to us. 🙏

Stay tuned

A lot more is coming up!

FRONT-END IS BACK!
